RoboLink v2.0: Layout Editor, Camera Streaming & More
What's New in v2.0
We're thrilled to announce the release of RoboLink v2.0 — our biggest update yet. This release focuses on three major areas: a redesigned layout editor, real-time camera streaming, and expanded widget support.
Redesigned Layout Editor
The layout editor has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. You can now:
- Drag and drop widgets onto a grid-based canvas
- Resize widgets by dragging their corners
- Snap to grid for perfectly aligned layouts
- Copy and paste widgets between layouts
The new editor also includes a library of preset layouts for common robot types, including RC cars, robotic arms, drones, and custom builds.
MJPEG Camera Streaming
One of the most requested features is finally here. RoboLink now supports live MJPEG camera streams directly in the app:
- Works with ESP32-CAM and similar modules
- Configurable stream URL
- Flip and mirror options
- Fullscreen mode for FPV driving
Camera streaming requires an ESP32-CAM module or any device that outputs an MJPEG stream via HTTP. Check our tutorials for setup guides.
New Widget Types
v2.0 introduces several new widget types:
- XY Pad — Two-axis input for positioning (great for robotic arms)
- Gauge — Visual readback for sensor data
- D-Pad — Digital directional pad for precise movement
- Trigger — Pressure-sensitive hold button
- Camera — Embedded MJPEG stream viewer
Each widget is fully customizable with labels, keys, value ranges, and visual styles.
Improved Connection Handling
We've also overhauled the connection system:
- Faster Bluetooth pairing with device memory
- Auto-reconnect when connections drop
- Connection quality indicator showing latency and signal strength
- Multiple simultaneous connections (coming in v2.1)
